H3 Missions

HEARTS & HANDS HONDURAS

Our signature international Mission since 2010.Dedicated to serving a specific area of Honduras.

LaCeibita Feeding Center

The Community of La Ceibita was built as a relocation community for families displaced by Hurricane Mitch in 1998. It struggles with such issues as poverty, resources for employment, food, education, and healthcare. Hearts and Hands first mission in 2009 entailed restoring a dilapidated building that served as a feeding center for school children. Attending school in this community is a privilege. Many children were unsuccessful in school due to hunger. This feeding center was established to address this issue and feeds up to 150 children per day, utilizing volunteer help and food provided by the mission.

Grand Opening was Feb 12, 2024

Medical Mission

The Medical Mission is one of our primary outreaches to an under served community.  We provide medical care across a spectrum of needs with a primary emphasis on women’s health and the elderly.

We set up a primary care clinic in the church in which we will see 700-900 patients in 4 days, we provide women’s primary healthcare in the Central de Salud (community health clinic), provide school screenings for 400+ children at the local school and for 100+ children at the CRIE (special needs school), we provide surgical care at the local hospital, consultations at the CRICOL (free medical rehab facility), home visits, vision clinics, dental clinics, and many more opportunities to provide care.

We need both medical (Doctors, Nurses, other medical professionals) as well as non-medical support personnel to run our clinics and provide outreach.

We also provide Christian Outreach in conjunction with our medical outreach in the form of Children’s education (VBS), women’s ministry, and many more opportunities to serve.

H3HS Missions Experience

Providing a meaningful Christian Mission experience for local and international high school youth.

BECAS Scholarship

Although public school access is free, Honduran children may not attend public school unless they can pay for uniforms, school supplies, sports attire and other maintenance fees. This financial barrier results in many Honduran children being unable to attend school and helps explain why Honduras has one of the lowest literacy rates in Central America.

What started as a dream to become involved in international missions working with children, became reality for Texas natives Henry and Sara Clines. In 2006 they created a foundation and started the Becas con Bendiciones Program. Donors can sponsor the educational expenses of a Honduran child for just $120 each year. All Program administrative fees are paid through the Clines’ foundation which means 100% of sponsors’ contributions go directly to support these Honduran students. Today over 800 students are supported with this program. La Ceibita is one of 17 communities who benefit from this scholarship program and it is administered through each community’s Methodist Church. Each student becomes part of monthly “gatherings” at the Church where they find bible study and support by the Church community. Sponsors receive information about the students they are supporting and periodic updates as well as communications from the sponsored child. ION Missions has partnered with Becas con Bendiciones to encourage sponsorships for La Ceibita school-aged children. Learn more by visiting www.becasconbendiciones.com.

Special Needs

H3 became involved with the Crie (special needs school) in Tocoa in 2019 when they were struggling to find a building. We teamed with them to help build a 4 room school. We have since built a caretakers house and a feeding center as well as one additional classroom. We continue to maintain a close relationship with them by teaching Bible school, helping with educational materials, helping to fund additional classrooms, and providing medical checkups for the students.

Home Visits

Outreach of the church into the community. In partnernship with the local United Methodist Church, we identify families in the area that may be struggleing with health issues, food insecurity or just in need of additional support.  Care packages are put together with basic pantry staples and we spend time visiting and in prayer with the families.

Women’s Outreach Ministry

Teaching baking skills, so they can raise money in their community. Supporting the women who work in the feeding center.
Devotions with the women’s Healthcare focus within the medical mission, we provide all levels of women health care, annual exams, and meeting health needs.

Support them in learning how to run Bible school, even when we aren’t there. We are teaching the teachers.

You can make an impact.
